How Do We Qualify Ufology or Any Information?

LargeIconTransparent

“How do we qualify Ufology information?”

How do we ‘vet’ the information and people providing it so that the quality is there; so that sense is made common?

What kind of tell-tale signs does ‘truth’ have in this environment?

Here’s some considerations from the works of Brent Cunningham…

internal coherence chart

1.  Internal Coherence — This is a test for rational consistency in ufology information.  This asks if a belief makes sense?  We need to determine whether beliefs are rationally consistent within themselves and in relation to others beliefs of one’s larger worldview.  Some beliefs are known to be self-referentially inconsistent, or self-defeating.  An example might be the belief that all “knowledge” is scientific knowledge.  This is obviously self-defeating because the belief itself is not a scientific statement.  Therefore, the belief dies by its own standard for knowledge.

Another way a belief can fail this test is when two beliefs are in contradiction with each other, meaning that at least one of the beliefs must be false.  So, we must ask if the beliefs hold together?  For example, if a person is a Naturalist (believing that human life is accidental, random, and without ultimate purpose), he cannot then introduce the belief that we have an objective moral obligation to treat another person justly or with kindness.

external vs internal correspondence

2.  External Correspondence — This test asks if a belief fits the facts of reality in ufology information.   Does it correspond to the real world?  Proposed truth-claims must have explanatory power, or the ability to give account for our experience of the world (whether it be history, science, psychology, human nature, etc.).  For instance, a worldview can be tested by its ability to explain cosmological questions like the origin of the universe; anthropological questions like the existence of minds and free will; moral questions like the existence of evil and our experience with guilt.

Further, the explanatory power of truth-claims should (a) be comprehensive in scope—able to explain more or better than alternative theories; (b) have predictive power—suggesting new evidence and problems; (c) have precision—accounting for more details; (d) be illuminating—integrating otherwise unrelated data; (e) avoid ad hoc hypotheses—functioning only to explain away counter-evidence; (f) be simple—not needlessly multiplying the basic concepts, assumptions, and principles of an explanation.

functional adequacy chart

3.  Functional Adequacy — This tests the livability of a truth-claim as a belief in ufology information.  Is it a viable belief “on the street”?  Does it work in real life?  Some views sound good on paper, but are proven false in the laboratory of life.  Consider an eastern guru who asserts that the physical world is an illusion, yet he still looks both ways before crossing the street.  A person cannot live out such an illusory belief of the world for very long (or he’ll be hit by a bus before long!).  Even more than that, a belief system must integrate one’s life.  It must incorporate and meet the deepest human needs.

SUMMARY
In evaluating the truth or falsity of  propositions/truth-claims/beliefs of ufology information, we must be sure to always look for three things: internal coherence (the logical), external correspondence (the factual), and functional adequacy (the livable).  For a belief to be true it must be meaningful, it must line up with the real world, and it must not only help us survive in daily life, but allow us to flourish.  Consequently, these are also the three areas in which our thinking can and does go wrong: logic, facts, and values.

Perhaps this will generate further discussion. We’ve created a forum area for that purpose.

It’s No Wonder We’re a Bit Confused by Intelligence

Intelligence is Over-rated

I’ve been involved with this field for several decades openly and a couple more as an early experiencer of high strangeness. It certainly doesn’t make be an authority, yet I do have some perspectives that few seem to garner as experiencers. I have an above average intelligence, last clocked online at around 151 using my opposite hand just to make it interesting and no rum was involved. My adoptive parents told me early tests were higher and they feared that telling me would turn me into an intellectual snob. Perhaps I have in the minds of some.

Lately there has been yet another flurry of details regarding Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), Unidentified Submerged Objects (USOs) and top secret government intelligence programs that have been studying them. Luis Elizondo recently spilled the beans on an obscure government program he was involved in that was tasked with studying the UFO phenomena, AATIP was its acronym. The Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program was supposedly led by him. He ‘quit’ the Pentagon because it he was frustrated by the cover-up.

Wow, what a news story that nearly every media outlet picked up on and made Luis an icon in Ufology almost instantly. Was he really involved or, like many, chose to sprinkle some truth in a large lie to get attention? Yes, AATIP existed, and it “did pursue research and investigation into unidentified aerial phenomena,” Pentagon spokesperson Christopher Sherwood was quoted as saying by Keith Kloor, journalist for The Intercept. However, he added: “Mr. Elizondo had no responsibilities with regard to the AATIP program while he worked in OUSDI [the Office of Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence], up until the time he resigned effective 10/4/2017.”

Intelligence or Insanity?

Luis isn’t the first to muddy the waters in Ufology, though. There is a long history of folks who, with no evidence available other than their word, have forged careers out of elaborate story-telling with details that entice the ears and stimulate the minds of the listeners and readers. Jeffrey Mishlove invited me to discuss the topic in an August 2018 interview he titled ‘The Sociology of Ufology.’ We discussed the tragedy within the field and the travails of those who genuinely seek the truth of whatever is known about our visitors from space.

It seems most of the folks who do have a clue are quiet, reserved and unrecognized by those who find the UFO circuit to provide a means of accolades and notoriety. It’s a small pond in comparison to the larger picture, yet the majority of experiencers are faced with few other opportunities to gather and commune with others of like experiences. The phrase made popular by The X Files, ‘I want to believe,’ now included the necessary discernment skills to weed through the BS. How close are we to really knowing the truth?

In the larger sense, what is the truth about these visitors? We now have irrefutable evidence they exist, specifically military videos as well as officials who’ve had first hand experience, rather sightings, of craft that is obviously not of this world. This evidence has been around for decades in the Ufology circles, yet hadn’t reached the public ears and eyes through major media until this year. Still, there has been evidence that has gone relatively unnoticed from years past. It has been right in front of us, available to find, for decades.

Intelligence of the Visitors

But what of those inside the craft? Who are they and what are they doing? Why are they here and what are their intentions? How do we find out about their intelligence? Do we think the government or major media outlets are going to tells us? Heck, they don’t even know from what many gather. So what is missing? Is there an underground movement, like Dr. Joseph Burkes suggests, that is painstakingly sharing information amongst each other to corroborate and distill general discoveries and potential objectives of these visitors?

It seems that methods of communication vary, mostly telepathic and yet include non-linear and non-local metaphysical-types of temporal distortion or even time-dilation. Events that are perceived as being very physical, when viewed through quantum lenses, are evidence of a multi-dimensional reality much like Neppe and Close describe with their TDVP model of consciousness, time and space being tethered. We have one timeline, yet the experience covers multiple dimensions simultaneously.

Do we need advanced degrees in quantum mechanics to understand it all? Some my think so and certainly there is a lot of math involved in explaining things from a scientific perspective, just like Einstein tried to with his theory of relativity. Jung had many dinners with him over nearly a decade and was greatly influenced by Einstein in the development of his papers on psychiatry. Bertrand Russell was also influenced and noted that to think Einstein’s Theory of Relativity has no philosophical impact was folly. Hans Reichenbach felt that human ‘sensations’ were more, that they were intricately connected to something going on in the universe.

Intelligence within Consciousness

Back to the consciousness that is being expanded by the ‘sensations’ of engagement by non-human intelligence. It spans more than just our visitors engagement of terrestrials. These same sensations are akin to the experience of higher realms of consciousness, often accompanied by a sense of vibration that has been described as both excruciating and/or exhilarating, depending on the frame of mind of the experiencer. So there is a choice involved as to ‘how’ to experience this ‘contact’ as the case may be. If it’s startling with a sense of fear involved, it’s excruciating. On the other hand, if it’s startling with a sense of intrigue or fearlessness, it’s often exhilarating.

Is there a path of logic that fits the scenario of their intent or purpose for engaging humanity in any way? If we looked at things from the perspective of an advanced civilization, what might that be? We tend to see things only through human-centric and fearful eyes, a looming threat. If that were the case, we’d be living in a much different world. Ancient civilizations have learned much, but what? If we are fascinated with the inner-workings of matter and ‘spirit,’ could we posit that this is a general path of evolution and development of intelligence? Where would it take us?

The universe has inherent logic, math and science we have only just begun to understand even in process of entropy to negentropy, from chaos to order. Could it be possible that the communication being delivered through human contacts, interpreted in a variety of ways, is steering us toward recognizing the intricate connections we, in our expanded consciousness, have with everything around us? Consider we’re 99% space, even though we seem physical. What permeates the space we all share? How would we best engage it? Is there a path toward understanding it? What might that be?

The Sociology of UFOlogy – an inquiry with Dr. Jeffrey Mishlove

Sociology of UFOlogy

For decades people have been curious and investigated UFOs in myriad ways. What is the sociology of UFOlogy today? In the late 80s Tim Beckley introduced New Age and Alien Agenda gatherings around the country. The International UFO Congress began in Tucson in 1991 with Ret. Col. Wendelle Stevens, Jim Diletosso and Ken Liljegren’s team as support.

I’ll digress for a moment. My first experiences with non-human intelligence was in 1962, advancing to something different in 1965 which was apparently the ‘normal’ type of contact in the Midwest in the 50s and 60s, the orange cigar-shaped cloud. During that same period, UFOs were apparently shutting down ICBM silos around the globe with exquisite showmanship.

Curious and investigative, I continued my quest to know, not just what, how this kinda stuff happens. I love the high strangeness. What makes it tick? I had a lot of questions, numerous events and some experiences I still wonder about today. I had deep conversations with a lot of folks; experts, researchers and experiencers across the gamut.

I got to know Tim and Wendelle over the years. Jim and I became friends and later he recommended me as manager for The Prophets Conference (1997). It gave me an opportunity to have conversations that are extremely rare, up close and personal without interruption. Some of the folks who were there: Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Dr. Steven Greer, Jose Arguelles, David Icke, Linda Molten-Howe, Stanton Friedman, Zacharia Sitchen and 2 dozen more. I got to know many prominent folks in the field of UFOlogy many years ago, with friendships still today.

2010 began by assuming responsibility for a UFO discussion group in the Phoenix valley. We met in a community room of a local fire station. Our guest speakers included Claude Swanson, Travis Walton, Alejandro Rojas and more. We also had meditation experiments using music that produced some varied and amazing personal experiences, all of a contact nature. There were about 35 people in the room. Afterward, one elderly woman reported seeing massive ET machinery surrounding the group and ‘working’ on each person.

From 2010 to 2014 I was a vendor at the IUFOC, having moved to Ft. McDowell in Arizona. In 2013 we debuted UFOlogyPRSS.com at the International UFO Congress, with over 100 blogs from around the world in one place, up-to-the-moment material. It rose the bar for UFOlogy-based websites. It was our virtual model of folks getting along even if they had opposing views. We’ve also got a number of authors featured; podcasts and radio shows, too.

Meanwhile, UFOlogy in general seems to be challenged. Experiencers are on one side and the nuts and bolts scientists on the other with conspiratorialists scattered about in each camp. Dr. Mishlove and I take a frank and open look at what the Sociology of UFOlogy is today. Although challenges do exist, there seems to be a call for change. What that will be remains to be seen.

Here’s how Dr. Mishlove framed the interview, “Here he [Zen] speaks as a participant-observer sharing his reflections on the current community of interest centering on UFO phenomena. He describes his disillusionment with a nexus of individuals focusing on the notions of the Ashtar Command and the Galactic Federation. He describes various fears associated with the very idea of alien life forms. However, he suggests that we presently have no actual evidence that there is a reason to be fearful of UFO activity.”

In the ‘contact’ scenarios, experiencers have to deal with seemingly incredulous events and still continue with some kind of ‘normal’ life. Whether individual or family needs, the daily functional activity still needs doing. There is something else going on, though, as shows like this don’t happen if the conversation isn’t necessary, imho.

Our hopes were to address common concerns and explore a little of what else is happening. I was a willing participant in spite of my trepidation. Talking about the Ashtar Command and Galactic Federation, however real and true they may be, is not the kind of talk that garners credibility normally. There’s evidence they do exist dating back to 1952 with George Van Tassel.

Although we discussed the potential confusion with deities, there is still more confusion around the topic. George Van Tassel met Robert Short, who took on the ‘Ashtar Command’ label, used it for contrary purposes and wasn’t connected to the ‘source’ like George. I met Bob in the late 1980s and didn’t feel he had a good connection, if any, talking nonsense about conspiracy theories interwoven with an Ashtar Command that would somehow take action against the cabal. The latter was infectious and unfortunately obfuscates the truth still, imho.

Jeffrey made a delicate subject easy to discuss. We had a nice mind flight. Perhaps you’ll consider sharing this article and video.

More importantly share New Thinking Allowed. Thanks in advance.

My wife asked me to include this interview from January of 2013. She said it spoke to her in ways nothing else had. She’s Russian-born and trained pianist as well as a 3HO Kundalini Yoga teacher. She has a compelling argument…

Formal UFO Disclosure – The Big D coming soon?

Transparency is a buzz word being thrown around without much reality, yet we can speak our feelings and thoughts openly, right? Do we? Usually not, for fear of something. What?

Truth telling begins with an individual effort, an example that invites others to do the same. We haven’t been able to do that, yet. If we do that, then we can create an opening for others to do so. If we aren’t, then we cannot hope for others to do so.

ufo disclosure

What about beginning with the notion that there are no malevolent beings from elsewhere? If there were, we’d be living differently. We have a tremendous amount of freedom, yet there are some humans that are inhumane. Just like the excuses many religious folk use… the devil made me do it. No, it was a choice you made. Evil aliens are influencing our world? No, it is our choice to allow the conditions to exist.

There really does come a time that we must stand for something. Let’s stand for Truth! Now, what does that really mean? Even though we are taught that within the silence is the voice of being, how often to we go there to really listen? Even thought we know that consciousness is replete with harmony, how often do we strive to be examples of it?

Initial attempts at open contact and a willingness to share technology were met with deceit and reverse engineering for military purposes. If someone is going to show you who they are by such activity, believe them. In the game of life, you get one chance. If you have the keys given to you and screw it up, why should you have another?

We really don’t take things seriously here, except to carve out our own little niches and protect our secrets so we can have a nice life. We believe there is an omnipotent all-loving universe yet we act completely the opposite. Giorgio Piacenza is right, it is all about consciousness. What does that mean, though? Can it be studied empirically? Doubtful, yet it is replete with numbers, patterns and symbols.

Authority and conviction can be felt at the deepest levels of our being, in our gut. This is the center of indigenous consciousness, the intuition or connectedness we can feel with everything. Emerson once wrote, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” The question is, “Why lie?”

‘Are we ready for a formal Big D?’ We can’t handle a little ‘d’ yet, imho.

Alien Agendas and Anal Probes

Aliens and Anal Probes – Jason Colavito

www.jasoncolavito.com/aliens-and-anal-probes.html

On the other hand, author Zen Benefiel self-published a book called Alien Agendas and Anal Probes (2014) that promised to investigate “the science behind the anal probes” and what these probes can tell us about why the aliens are really here. But his book isn’t a history so much as New Age-influenced fringe speculation, so it is of limited use in peeling back the layers of the abduction experience.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Jason was gracious enough to include my book. I think he missed the main point, though. The science behind the ‘probe’ is stated fairly simply and succinctly, probably too simply for peering eyes to grok. Moments after having the experience I was reflecting on why it happens.

That science involved an intimate understanding of anatomy and use of nerves that are direct pathways to the spine and central nervous system, specifically through the perineum. So this is not some new age stuff with general and nebulous statements about love and light. It’s exacting and perhaps even credible when you understand the technology.

The first thing that popped into my head was not some New Age influence speculation. I’m a math and science buff, intelligent and investigative beyond most. Math and science are so present in the constructs of the universe, beginning with the foundation of sound and light condensing, or lower the vibratory rate, into form. That may seem new-age, though quantum sciences and a the model of Neppe and Clark speak of consciousness tethered with space and time across multiple dimensions.

Advanced races that can travel across time and space are familiar with the natural laws and order of the universe, so they are well aware of the effects of adjusting frequencies. If you consider the known quantities of information about the nature of frequencies and the subtle adjustments that produce amazing changes in our bodies and environment, it just makes sense that the same adjustments can be made with technology applied to our bodies.

The simple science regarding the anal probe is that the sphincter is an end point, as well as the genitals, of the perineum nerve. The nerve is directly connected to the spinal nerve which, according to the ancient arts, is the path of Kundalini Serpent Fire when it is ignited. So, we can ignite this Fire (Divine as it is) with practice AND it can be accelerated by procedures. It is an undeniable experience when it happens, a definite perspective adjustment.

What happens when the vibratory rate is adjusted by such measures, using technology to subtly affect a nerve like the perineum? Usually an orgasm is the first thing. That’s why the mistaken idea of sexual experimentation comes. We are so oppressed in regard to considering or discussion anything of a sexual nature that folks haven’t been able to transcend their paradigms. In time, we will.

So, thanks Jason, I appreciate the opportunity to address the subject again.

Luba was reading one of my books just moments ago on this Sunday morning, coffee in hand, when she burst forth through tarmac toward the sun again. Okay, couldn’t help the Moody reference. Alien Agendas and Anal Probes is what she was reading, then announcing with every ounce of surety in her that she was shaken to the core and this was exactly what she had been looking for… in Tom Campbell, in Kundalini, all the books and videos, everything… that this was the core of our existence – why we are here and what we are doing.

Farbeit for me to resist the opportunity to share her excitement, and my amazement at her discovery and how much it meant to her as a keystone experience. She thought everyone needs to read this and see/feel for themselves how much sense it makes.

And so the excerpt:

We might see it as God dwelling in man again. I eventually understood it as cosmic consciousness condensing into form and becoming aware of it.

The result, according to the narrator, is a sense of oneness and willingness to operate free from intellectual pursuits driven by the desire to dominate the environment. Each individual soul has purpose, like a thread in the tapestry of life that is just as important as any other thread. The beauty of the tapestry is dependent on the threads, no matter the color, diameter or length.

When all the threads become aware of the tapestry, it becomes alive and whole – able to be viewed. Individuals are like fractals of the tapestry, able to contain the original yet finding form, fit and function within it as their own filaments combine to form the whole.
