CONTACT NETWORK HISTORY PROJECT

A Close Encounter of the Third Kind with Love.

Joseph Burkes MD 2015

It has been said that consciousness is the “golden thread” that ties us to UFO intelligence. After all if the ET hypothesis is correct and UFOs are an extraterrestrial manifestation, then we are going to be very different from them. We don’t share a common history, language or biological evolution, but what both humans and ETs have in common is that we are awake and are aware of that wakefulness.

Perhaps we can share states of being that come from that clear quiet place that we call consciousness itself. For those of us who have met the visitors face to face, there exists the possibility of sharing a sense of peace or joy. Although it may sound corny, as this narrative suggests we may also be able to communicate with, and share love.

“COMING OUT” OF THE UFO CLOSET

My initial enthusiastic support for CSETI ‘s contact efforts led me to a rather daring action. Some would call it foolish. I decided to set up a CSETI information booth at the American Public Health Association’s annual meeting held in Washington DC in November of 1992. I was accompanied by my medical group partner “Dr. Daniel.” He was in our Los Angeles CSETI CE-5 Initiative Working Group.

The APHA’s meeting draws about 10,000 health professionals whose political views are more to the left than mainstream medicine’s views. The APHA has historically championed the health rights of women, ethic minorities and workers. During the first few years of my medical career I had actively participated in the Occupational Health and Safety section of the APHA. In 1979 I was co-founder of the Los Angeles Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, a coalition of health care and legal professionals that endeavored through education and advocacy to make the workplace safer.

WORKING THE CROWD

At a beautiful new convention center in the nation’s capital, under a royal blue banner embroidered with the slogan, “ One Universe, One People!” Daniel and I “worked” the conference participants. A small TV monitor played dramatic footage of UFOs, while I called out to passersby, “Would you like to see a UFO video?” Apparently quite a few did, over 250 nurses, doctors and administrators watched the film clips and chatted with us during the 3-day conference. About forty signed up for more information and the bravest shared their personal stories of sightings and other contact experiences.

A CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE THIRD KIND WITH LOVE

A Ph.D. professor of nursing gave the most impressive report to me. From her convention badge I identified her as a faculty member from a major university. She watched the videos for a few minutes and then allowed me to interview her about her personal contact experience.

Some 7 years before she reportedly had a Close Encounter of the Third Kind. After nightfall while camping with her fiancée, her tent was filled with a very bright light. All around the campsite she could hear footsteps. Apparently from prior encounters she immediately realized that she was having a contact experience. The professor reported not being able to move but was fully awake. She could not stir her friend that was sound asleep. One humanoid stuck his head into the tent. By her description the being was the typical so called “Gray,” big head with wrap around eyes. My nursing colleague told me that she was happily excited and frightened at the same time.

The being quickly retreated but she could see his shadow and those of several others on the walls of her tent that was illuminated by the campfire light. She told me that she sent out the thought, “ I love you.” In a flash she felt a forceful burst of electric type energy. The sensation surged through her body from the top of her head down to the tip of her toes. The beings left her campsite and the encounter was over.

There are on the exhibit floor, under the bright lights with hundreds of booths and thousands of participants around us, she had described the experience simply, matter of fact, with just a touch of amazement. I was a perfect stranger to her and yet she was willing to share her recollections of an intimate contact with what she believed were non-human beings. I described to her the ambitious goals of CSETI’s CE-5 Initiative. She listened politely but chose not to sign up for more information. After all she was a professor at a major university and the notoriety of being a contact experiencer might cause her considerable harm. She wished me well in my crusade and walked away, disappearing into the crowd.

Compatible History

and response from the curator….

Dr. Burkes knows far too well that the consciousness we call ET is so connected to what we also call ‘unconditional love’ that it seems surreptitious that others would engage in fear-based conspiracy theories, imho. The frequency response of such deep levels of love can initially feel so intense that they indeed are a bit frightening; the unfamiliar sense of being totally and unconditionally ‘loved’ by high-frequency beings.

We ‘see’ them in many ways, from humanoid-looking (most appeasing) to reptilian (most challenging) and even non-bipedal creatures as well. It’s been said that we/they present themselves according to the viewer’s capacity or willingness to see. A lot of the current focus, though, is still on the lower vibratory realms, the research on encounters, sightings and such. Bridging the professional realms, like Joe did with the APHA, is critical and I believe mandatory today.

International Association for Near Death Studies

I had the opportunity to do the same a few years ago, with the International Association for Near-Death Studies. I applied for a presentation spot at their 2010 annual conference in Denver and got the nod, unexpectedly. After some scheduling rearrangements (initially having an hour, then a half-hour, then being put on a panel with two others and given 20 minutes as I stepped on stage) I felt a little uncomfortable with such demands that I felt were a bit unprofessional. Still, I was there and on stage.

I had a feeling things were going to go awry, so I didn’t put my powerpoint together until during the speaker just before us. It turned out to be perfectly timed… I came in just over the 20 minutes they allotted. During my presentation to the clinicians and medical professionals I introduced the notion of how the OBE’s, NDEs and STEs were all related and easily lended themselves to accessing what we call ETs and more, including cosmic consciousness.

I noticed some shades drawn with some of the audience but one individual in particular who was a long standing expert in the field, P.M. Atwater, was smiling from ear to ear and nodding continuously as I broached the delicate bridge. I knew I was going to hedge the edge of acceptability with this particular crowd, yet afterward there were several who congratulated me on bridging those worlds. No one to date had attempted to do so at the IANDS annual events.

Btw, I wasn’t invited back, either. 🙁 Still, the information was shared. Having multiple close encounters throughout my life has been both a blessing and a curse. I’m blessed with a greater understanding of the ‘non-humans;’ their perspective on universal law and order. I’m cursed with the misunderstanding and projections of others who are unable to hear from within.

Keep up the great work, Joe!

2015 IUFOC – from a patron

Jim-Zen-Liz-Cliff

Jim Dilettoso, Zen, Liz Alpert, Clifford Mahooty

A moment in time…

Many years ago the gentleman on the far left in photo, Jim Dilettoso, along with Ret. Col. Wendelle Stevens (RIP) organized the first International UFO Congress in Tucson, AZ. I was quite fortunate to have been able to be there, arriving in a limousine owned by a mutual friend, Roy Haddix (RIP), along with the future mother of Jim’s awesome daughter.. now a teenager. Some really amazing things have happened over the years.

The event today brings people from all over the world. Mine is a personal experience of connecting with others and sharing what we’ve found in our personal direct experiences and relationships forged from internal and external perspectives, something that is not particularly shared on stage by the presenters. Most of that information is perhaps more linear and, quite honestly, polarized in one perspective or another. Below is a series of interviews I did at an event in Sedona in 1992, which includes Jim Dilettoso and others. It’s a veritable synopsis of what is and has been going on for decades.

This year was probably the most profound shift I’ve noticed in the willingness of people to share openly, mostly patrons rather than actual presenters. The shift has been in their ability to question and the willingness to see things from an inner perspective, free of polarization. This demonstrates the growth in awareness and consciousness among the collective of experiencers. The morning and evening gatherings of experiencers in a facilitated session by Yvonne Smith brought out the fact that many are still grappling with the intense juxtaposition of fear and freedom in experiencing non-linear and non-local events of their own.

There is a new organization called FREE (Foundation for Research of Extraterrestrial Encounters) that has taken the environment to a new level of investigation. Rey Hernandez and I shared a table during the event and got to know each other well, another unexpected joy for me particularly. FREE’s work, began by folks like John Mack (RIP) some years ago, is bring an opportunity for contactees to share their experiences and study the commonality. Academic studies of the phenomena of long been plagued by the reluctance of the scientific community to explore.

Today, the work of FREE is forging a new path in the acceptance and corroboration of a common theme in the awareness of experiencers, that of a congruent understanding of the helpfulness garnered toward the actualization of an openness toward our Star Families, revealing the potential of many who have found their lives to be integrated with a massive movement toward evolving consciousness. Dr. Edgar Mitchell and Dr. Rudy Schild are co-founders of FREE. Dr. Mitchell and I had conversations about this possibility when we met at the Prophets Conference in Phoenix in 1997.

Travis-ZenThe common perception among nearly all the folks I was able to meet and speak with for any length of time over the 5-day event was that we are learning how to move beyond our internal fears prompted by the induction of various philosophies and religions, Travis’ recent shift is one of the most notable. Of course there are those who still seek to polarize the public for personal and profitable reasons. The great thing is that the discussion of personal discernment is growing and the suspension of old, worn out belief systems is occurring throughout this environment. Some folks are still gullible and want to believe what they are hearing from these proponents of polarity. Indeed the conduit is closing, though, as the seekers of truth are reflecting their awareness more openly.

Perhaps there is a desire for harmony among people and planet, promoted by the majority of contactees, that is encouraging those who’ve felt like they were ‘abducted’ to look at their experience from a larger view, one of an expanded consciousness that is being offered by our extraterrestrial neighbors. The natural process of chaos to order is certainly being recognized.

Contact in the Desert – New Dates

CONACT 2015Contact in the Desert New Dates

Now in its third year amidst the desert background in the Joshua Tree area, Contact in the Desert is moving the the end of May. Patrons are getting their wish as the previous August dates, even with the Perseid meteor showers, was challenging to heat-sensitive folks. It’s a beautiful venue, though.

Joshua Tree Retreat Center is the oldest and largest retreat center in the Western United States; a unique architectural landmark on a sacred site. Their mission is to support the education and nourishment of the infinite human potential. The atmosphere is certainly conducive, especially with the new dates for the 2015 Contact in the Desert event.

New Date: May 29 – 31

This year will bring many of the same speakers and vendors as the previous years. The event grew tremendously from 2012 to 2013 and this year is anticipated to be even larger. The schedule has not been released as of yet, but it is anticipated within by the end of January. If you are going to stay onsite, it would be a good idea to get your accommodates soon as they will fill up quickly.

There are some hotels in the area, but none within a reasonable walking distance from the event site at 59700 Twentynine Palms Highway, Joshua Tree, CA 92252. Weekend conference passes have included meals at the onsite cafeteria. The staff and volunteers are helpful and ut in a lot of hard work to make this event a success. Keep an eye on the Contact in the Desert InMemoriamwebsite for updated information to appear soon.

There are several gathering places onsite as well, for meet and greets and general conversation. The Rose Cottage will also host after-hours gatherings for patrons and special guests attending the conference as well. Our UfologyPRSS curator will be attending, too.

There have been contests for free tickets in the past, so hopefully this year will be no different. We’ll keep you updated as things progress. Make sure you sign up for our newsletter. Look forward to seeing you there.

Parental Postulate

Unexpected Glimpse at Parental Guidance

After joining the New Age Alliance I had volunteered to be an ‘investigator’ of organizations that were applying for membership. The New Age Alliance was a Phoenix-metro member-group organization founded in the late 1980s. It’s purpose was to provide a unified front for sharing ethics-based philosophy regarding accountability and responsibility in the New Age.

One of my assignments was to investigate a group that had formed around a channel for an entity named Jabar. Lauren Schmidt was the ‘channel’ and his townhouse was used as their regular meeting place. I thought it would be great for our elder daughter to experience as well, since she had showed signs of being highly sensitive.

My background with channels was a bit skewed as I’d found most of them to be skilled manipulators that were more about power than perfection. Many are excellent body language readers and work off cues the people offer without their awareness. I knew enough from all the reading I had done that information was available and could be easily promoted as though it was being ‘channeled.’ I’d met some folks that ‘felt’ much different, though, like Steve and April White.

I had introduced myself and my daughter upon arrival and that I was there on Alliance business. Lauren was a pleasant man to converse with, showing no signs of being interested in his own profit, although there was a charge. I was there for free, though. There were about 30 or so people there and we all sat around the living room of the townhouse. Some chairs were provided, but most of us sat on the floor. Krystal and I sat to the side against the wall.

We talked for a few moments while the other guests were arriving. I would let him know of the status of their membership submission after reporting back to the New Age Alliance membership committee. I liked what I’d found so far and told him so. He smiled, patted me on the back and went to change.

Just prior to the group session he had changed into a shiny emerald green floor-length robe, appearing very regal if I might add. My daughter and I sat on the floor in the back of three rows of people, leaning on the wall next to the arcadia door. I thought this would be a good vantage point to view the show. I also liked that we had something to lean against.

Lauren sat down and explained what was about to happen, invited us to have a short meditation, and went into his ‘channeling’ mode. I watched as he went through a process of preparation in order to channel. He did some centering exercises with his arms and breath, visibly becoming more relaxed. I’m not sure about the others, but I felt more open as well.

His energy changed dramatically, yet subtly, and he appeared to physically become more centered and upright, like his body was being straightened by a posture coach. I could sense another presence, too, or at least there was a definite shift in my awareness.

He was a bit different than most I’d witnessed in that he stood and walked around with his eyes wide open. He addressed several people with questions and answers and then turned his eyes on me with a little more of an intense gaze. It looked very inquisitive.

Parental Postulate

At first I thought, okay… here it comes. I looked into his eyes wondering what was going to come out of his mouth. He stood there for a moment, just looking.

Then he said, ‘You are still looking for your parents, aren’t you?’ Wow, that was totally unexpected. How did he know? Now, how was I going to respond?

I had said nothing of my adoption or quest for finding my biological parents, let alone celestial parents. Immediately I knew something was up and he had some connection beyond the manipulators. I relaxed as much as I could, took a deep breath and replied.

So I answered, “Yes, but I’m not so interested in the terrestrial lineage as much as I am the celestial lineage now.” I had longed for some kind of terrestrial connection for most of my life, but had recently realized I needed to move beyond it.

“That’s good,” he replied, “’but you’d still like to know who they are wouldn’t you?” I replied, “Of course,” not knowing what was about to come.

“Would you like to know their names?” he asked and I said, “Absolutely!” All I heard after a slight pause was, “They are A…. and A….” I blocked out his words for some reason, like I was not willing to listen. It was odd because he spoke quite loudly and was easy to hear otherwise. ‘Odd,’ I thought, then, ‘shit, I missed a golden opportunity.”

Since I did not hear the names I had no knowledge of who they were yet, but I knew he’d given actual names even though all I heard were the first letters. I sat there for a moment, puzzled and not wanting to appear like I wasn’t listening. I had a moment of extreme depression having missed the names.

Since I didn’t hear them I couldn’t say, “Could you repeat that please?”  So I just said, “Thank you,” and didn’t say anything else. He paused for a moment as if expecting me to say something else, I didn’t, so he moved on to the next person. I had a thought…

I turned and asked my daughter what he’d said, not knowing if she would recall. She replied, ‘Ashtar and Athena.’ My mind was conflicted and confused, but I held on, as it raced through the recent events.

Although I was familiar with Ashtar and Athena by now, hearing Jabar’s answer sent me reeling. What the heck is going on? I want to make sense of all this, but it was beyond my ability to create some kind of logical explanation. Part of me wanted to know more and another part of me was afraid to ask. I’m sure you might be a little concerned if you were in my shoes, too. What would you do?

My daughter was full of questions on the way home. She wanted to know who Ashtar and Athena were because she knew Nanna and Pawpaw were Daddy’s parents. We had no conversations about my adoption yet, and I wasn’t sure how to answer her.

I framed the answer like a fairy tale where Daddy was a lost boy who had been raised by adoptive parents. Something had happened to his parents after he was born and Nanna and Pawpaw had come to his rescue. They couldn’t have children of their own, but they really wanted a son, so they had been looking for him for a while. They were delighted when they found him and raised him as their own.

I explained that he had known this was true early on, and grew up like they were his real parents. When he got older, he started his own family, but he was still looking for his ‘real’ parents so he could rejoin his own family. He loved his parents very much and would always, but there was something unfinished. Jabar provided some information for the story to continue, but he didn’t know how it would end.

It was hard to separate myself from the story, but by telling her that way it seemed to give me some distance that felt healthy.
