Legends from the Sky

LegendsPosterLegends from the Sky

Promo Description: A Native American Veteran, burdened by survivor’s guilt after a disastrous military tour, is forced to search for his missing grandfather after his ancestral land is mysteriously taken over by an unknown federal organization.

The movie had its World Debut at the Gila River Wild Horse Pass Casino in the Ovations Room just last night. The director, Travis Holt Hamilton, and most of the cast were on hand for the event. I spoke with Travis briefly beforehand and his unpretentious demeanor was refreshing. He is a hard-working and dedicated professional who decided to explore something few have done, combining a respect for indigenous ways while exploring a topic that is as confusing as it is rife with disinformation today.

The movie itself was well written and directed; the production staff should be proud of such anLegends accomplishment as well. There were only minor drags in the dialog from time to time. Seriously, though, how do you really bridge the worlds of experiencers and ‘normal’ folk in any culture? Have you ever tried to write a movie script or screenplay. It is certainly not easy. Travis and Jose Silerio deserve some great respect for venturing into the Ufology territory, let alone wrapping it into a Native American culture and landscape.

I’d highly recommend checking out this film and let your imagination run as to how it relates to the current them in this century and the role the indigenous folk play in it. Perhaps there are some symbols and people who represent them that are ready to appear. Who knows, Travis may take this film to another level in a sequel that takes one deeper into Native culture with a little sci-fi spin. This film would certainly lend itself to another venture. Maybe we can encourage Travis to take another step toward Native culture and include the Hopi in his next film. There is a well-known rock formation that they call the ‘landing place’ where thousands of ancient petroglyphs line the rock face just outside the area. They, too, have their legends of ‘star people’ that are worth investigating further. If you ever want to go there yourself, reach out to the curator. You’ll need a referral to get a Hopi guide to take you there. Outsiders aren’t welcome without one.
